Hackmatack Children's Choice Book Award
From the Hackmatack web site:
"The Hackmatack Children's Choice Book Award is an Atlantic Canadian book award which allows children to choose their favourite Canadian and Atlantic Canadian books. The children read from a selection of thirty books divided in three categories, English Fiction, English Non-fiction and French, chosen for their literary, cultural and enjoyment factors. The books have generally been published within two or three years of selection."

Writer's Federation of NS Awards
The Writer's Federation of NS hosts several annual competitions. Check out the winners on the WFNS website!
Dartmouth Book Awards
Established in 1989, they are presented each year to Canadian literature featuring Nova Scotia and its people in both fiction and non-fiction categories.
Two juries evaluate the books on the basis of quality, presentation, and the books' contribution to, and celebration of, Nova Scotia.
Canadian Library Association Book Awards
Literary and graphic excellence in books for children and young adults is encouraged and promoted through the Book Awards program of the Canadian Library Association. These three prestigious awards are presented annually:
- Young Adult Canadian Book Award
- Book of the Year for Children Award
- Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Illustrator's Award
Ontario Library Association's 'Red Maple Award'
Students in over 200 Ontario schools and libraries have been busy reading Canadian books, preparing to be voters in a readers' choice award, The Red Maple Award, sponsored by the Ontario Library Association.
Toronto Book Awards
The Toronto Book Awards were first presented by Toronto City Council in 1974 to honour authors of books of literary or artistic merit that are evocative of Toronto.The annual awards offer $15,000 in prize money, with each short-listed author receiving 1,000 for their achievement and the winner is awarded the rest.

The Giller Prize
The Giller Prize awards $25 000 annually tot he author of the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English.
Governor General's Literary Awards
The Governor General's Literary Awards are given annually to the best English-language and the best French-language book in each of the seven categories of Fiction, Literary Nonfiction, Poetry, Drama, Children's Literature (text), Children's Literature (illustration) and Translation (from French to English).
The Writers' Trust of Canada/McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize
The Writers’ Trust of Canada/McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize is awarded annually to a new and developing writer of distinction for a short story published in a Canadian literary publication.
